Coach Atlantis

I had this idea a while back. The intent was to add some more possibilities for strategy but also to include some more of an even fight element. It would certainly add a new twist with a different Atlantis format.

First of all a coach would be required for each faction. Seems logical that this would be the factions top launcher from the previous Atlantis (though an override mechanism might be necessary in a kind of “devangel 2” situation- maybe a special Silver request since it should be rare). Anyway the coach would responsible for assigning which players are assigned to which zones, with the thought being that most zones would have a constraint on the number of players who can launch there and that for each such zone on the attack phase they can stack their own zone or hit either of the enemy zones at the equivalent location in the pyramid (an equal constraint for each faction- hence the even fight element). At least one zone (traditional grunt position?) could be the at-large zone where everybody can launch. An additional responsibility of the coach would be to make substitutions (like soccer- the interesting strategic element), with a constraint on the amount of substitutions per day or the amount per Atlantis. These could be used to sub in a better launching player or to work time zone differences for a target zone advantage.

I would imagine that a portal web page type of interface could be used to assign the players to their zone assignments and to handle the substitutions.

A note about Prime. It could be that Prime is also treated as at-large, but possibly it would be more interesting if Prime were only available to the launchers assigned to the “constrained” zones such that a choice would have to be made between defending/attacking the assigned zone vs the Prime zone.

How many assigned players per zone? I don’t know. Maybe teams of 5 players? Maybe fewer. Maybe different amounts in different zones. What rules for these zones? Certainly it would be interesting to pit the cubers against each other in refresh allowed zones. But having different strategies with different ordnance or formation constraints all with “even teams” seems so interesting to me.

I am really like about your consept.

Adding 3 or 5 coaches instead of single coach may be more effective.

How about adding 10% extra winnig prize to each team coach to share with 10 team members. So coaches can arrange internal competition or share it based on performance.
